Ladies Who Lunch with Clenise Platt Monday, May 23 | 12 PM Once a month we'll have one of our leading ladies host the lunch hour. Reserve your seat now. *Lunch is a la carte. _______________ Biography: Clenise Platt is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is an author, speaker and entrepreneur. Clenise is also the Staff Development Coordinator for the 300 plus staff members of the Virginia Beach Public Library, a licensed insurance agent, and an Adjunct Professor at Tidewater Community College. She is the CEO of The Plattinum Group, a collective of brands designed to encourage and inspire people to savor time and to fully engage in the life experience. ​Clenise has served in multiple leadership roles in the Hampton Roads community, Rotary and professionally. She currently serves as the Chair for the Norfolk Botanical Garden Board of Directors and on the Board of the Town Point Club. She is the first African American to serve as the Chair of the Norfolk Botanical Garden Board. Clenise is also the President and founder of the nonprofit organization, The Keep Your Chin Up Organization, Incorporated, which serves as her love letter to the future. ​She is a Rotarian and was selected to serve as the District Governor during 2019-2020 for Rotary District 7600 which consisted of 62 clubs and over 2,500 Rotarians in Southeastern Virginia. Clenise was the first African American female District Governor in District 7600. She was one of six District Governors in the world featured in the May 2020 issue of The Rotarian magazine's cover story, Up and Comers: Never Too Young to Lead. As the District Alumni Chair she helped to establish the District 7600 Alumni Association and then served as the Charter President of the organization. Clenise accepted the Alumni Association of the Year Award on behalf of District 7600 in Hamburg, Germany in 2019. She belongs to several professional organizations and has received numerous awards and honors for her community service and professional accomplishments. Clenise has received the William and Mary Young Alumni Service Award, the Virginia Beach Human Rights Award, the Inside Business Journal Top Forty under Forty and the Inside Business Women in Business Achievement Awards, the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in Business, recognition as a City of Virginia Beach Ambassador, the District 7600 Alumni Service Award, the ODU Hugo A. Owens MLK Memorial Award and the Norfolk Botanical Garden Ground Breaker Award. ​Clenise is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and Old Dominion University. She also received the ATD Foundation of Management Excellence certificate from the Yale School of Management. She has served as a moderator for multiple events including discussions about documentaries shared on Independent Lens hosted by the local PBS station. Clenise is a sought-after speaker and has spoken at multiple conferences including the Virginia Library Association Conference, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women NGO Forum and the Rotary International Convention. Clenise will be the host of a podcast scheduled to launch in the Summer of 2022.
