Week 1: Introduction to Self-Defense and Situational Awareness - 12/4 • Objective: Establish the basics of self-defense, focusing on awareness and prevention. • Topics Covered: o Understanding situational awareness and how to assess threats. o Basic defensive stance and movement. o Simple verbal de-escalation techniques. o Practicing alertness in various environments (e.g., parking lots, elevators). Week 2: Escaping Grabs and Holds - 12/11 • Objective: Learn to break free from common grabs (e.g., wrist, arm, shoulder). • Topics Covered: o Techniques for escaping wrist grabs (single and double). o Breaking free from bear hugs (front and back). o How to react if grabbed from behind (basic escape moves). o Emphasis on using leverage and body mechanics over strength. Week 3: Defending Against Chokes - 12/18 • Objective: Develop skills to counter chokes, both standing and on the ground. • Topics Covered: o Escaping front and rear chokes. o Defense against headlocks. o Basics of defending against a choke when pinned against a wall. o Breathing control and staying calm under pressure. ​ Week 4: Ground Defense and Escapes - 1/8 • Objective: Equip participants with the skills to defend themselves on the ground. • Topics Covered: o Basic ground positioning (guard, mount, side control). o Escapes from being mounted or pinned. o How to get back on your feet safely. o Techniques to prevent being taken down. ​ Week 5: Defending Against Strikes - 1/15 • Objective: Learn how to block, evade, and counter common strikes. • Topics Covered: o Blocking and evading punches and kicks. o Basic counters to common attacks (e.g., straight punch, hook, kick). o Use of elbows and knees in close-quarters defense. o Practicing combinations for defense and counter-attack. Week 6: Defending Against Weapons - 1/22 • Objective: Basic strategies for defense against common weapons (knife, stick). • Topics Covered: o Recognizing weapon threats and situational escape options. o Basic disarming techniques (knife and blunt objects). o Safe practices for creating distance from an armed attacker. o Emphasis on escape over engagement when weapons are involv

Kid's Day! Saturday, December 14th 9:30am - 11:30am $60++ per child (includes brunch and gingerbread house) $40++ for accompanying adult (includes brunch) Bring your kids and let them be creative and have loads of fun! Children ages 5 – 12 can decorate their very own gingerbread house! Following the class, everyone can then enjoy a great kid-friendly brunch! Seating is limited.
