While Chef Venegas was young, he quickly decided that he had to pursue what he was naturally gifted at. He knew the work would be challenging, but he felt he couldn’t lose — he knew his family depended on him. So armed with determination and passion, he went to work at the Rancho Bernardo Inn at an early age. After years of training under Chef Bob Blakesly, he honed his craft and was promoted to line cook, then later Sous Chef. His mentor, Chef Blakesly, left an indelible mark on him. He credits Chef Blakesly for the guidance he provided that had everything to do with making him the success he is today.
