Shine Day with Home of Guiding Hands Saturday, July 16 | 9am-12pm As you know, the University Club Atop Symphony Towers believes that we have the ability to make a difference in our community and are dedicated to serving our city and its residents. With this in mind, we’ve chosen to participate in a Shine Day with Home of Guiding Hands. Please join us for a morning of service that will ensure that we make a difference in the lives of the members of our community with developmental disabilities. RSVP required. Sailing Club
Sailing Club Charter Saturday, July 16 | 12pm-6pm | $75 per person Boat is limited to 8 passengers The boat chartered is a 2021 35ft Beneteau Oceanis, called Oui Oui. This is a great introduction for those without experience to sailing but want to get their feet wet (figuratively, of course 😉). Seasoned and salty pirates are always welcome. It’s a perfect way to spend an afternoon with great people and unbeatable views of downtown! Meet Kurtis at 1pm by the convenience store tables (can’t miss it), he'll everyone down to the boat for a safety brief and intro to the boat. Launch at 1:30pm, and get back to the marina at 6pm. There’s plenty of parking, although Harbor Sailboats strongly encourages carpooling. 2040 Harbor Island Dr Unit 104 San Diego, CA 92101 United States The cafe/convenient store at the marina is a perfect place to buy lunch, snacks, and drinks. Arts Reception with Operation Art Strings
Join the Arts Council as they present; Operations Art Strings to Benefit Guitars4Vets Tuesday, July 26th | 6:30-8:30 pm | Complimentary Guitars4Vets is a national network of chapters whose goal is to teach and give guitars to veterans who have been diagnosed with PTSD or are/have experienced the emergence of mental illness. Operation Art Strings is a national program where artists decorate/design guitars. These guitars are sold to support the charity. Each artist has the freedom to express their own artistic style and inspiration while painting a guitar that they have personally chosen. Guitars4Vets provides each artist a choice from several guitars. Artists guidelines include no icons, celebrities or weapons are to be painted onto the guitar. Webpage for Operation Art Strings on the G4V website: Guitars 4 Vets San Diego Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans is the local hosting organization to support Operation Art Strings. Peter Ballantyne has worked with Bob Taylor from Taylor Guitars and James Willis who is the Taylor Guitar visual artist. He is also connected with Tommy Emmanuel, an internationally-known guitarist. His organization supports Guitars4Vets by giving guitars to veterans and supporting their lessons. Please join us at our Arts Reception for the unveiling of these beautiful masterpieces.
