Inception

Harvey S. Firestone commissions the South Course as a private retreat for Firestone Tire Company employees. Designed by Bert Way, the club officially opens with Firestone himself driving the first tee shot.

Where Champions Play

Firestone makes its debut on the PGA Tour by hosting the Rubber City Open Invitational, marking the start of its championship legacy.

New Beginnings

After a fire destroys the original clubhouse, construction begins on the iconic 125-foot water tower that still stands as a landmark today.

South Course Redesign

Robert Trent Jones Sr. redesigns the South Course, adding bunkers, ponds, and length in preparation for the PGA Championship. Firestone hosts the event later that same year.

Welcoming the North Course

The North Course opens, also designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., expanding the club’s offerings with another championship-level layout.

Unveiling the West Course

The West Course opens, later redesigned by Tom Fazio to blend modern playability with classic Firestone character.

Global Championship Beginnings

Firestone becomes the host site of the inaugural WGC–NEC Invitational, ushering in a new era of global championship golf.

WGC–Bridgestone Invitational Era

The WGC–Bridgestone Invitational is held annually at Firestone, attracting the world’s top players and defining the modern chapter of its tournament history. Most notably this year was Tiger Woods’ infamous Shot in the Dark at Firestone.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to live in Ohio to become a member?
No. Firestone offers a National Membership for individuals whose primary residence is outside Ohio or more than 100 miles from the Club.
Do members receive travel privileges outside Firestone?
Yes. Firestone golf memberships include access to hundreds of private clubs nationwide through XLife Play Away benefits, as well as benefits at partner hotels, resorts, and entertainment venues. Additional dues or fees may apply.
What types of membership categories are available?
Firestone offers Corporate, Individual, National and Social memberships. Each is structured so you can choose the level of golf, dining, and ancillary access that fits your lifestyle.
What does membership include?
All active golf membership categories include full access to the Club’s three golf courses (South, North, Fazio), practice facilities, overnight accommodations, dining, and other club amenities.
Is there guest or unaccompanied access?
Yes. Certain membership tiers permit unaccompanied guest access along with guest privileges—for example, corporate and premium individual levels include these benefits.
Are there initiation fees and dues?
Yes. All membership categories require an initiation fee and monthly dues, which vary by the membership category you choose.
Can I use the club for business or company purposes?
Yes. The Corporate Membership is designed to give employees, clients, and associates access to Firestone for meetings, entertainment, and golf under one corporate umbrella.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. Proper golf and clubhouse attire is required. Collared shirts and appropriate golf shorts or pants are expected on the course, and hats must be worn facing forward. Casual resort wear is welcome in dining areas unless otherwise noted.
How do I schedule a tour of the club?
Reach out to our Membership Team to book an appointment—use the inquiry form, call the club, or email your preferred date/time. Private tours are scheduled throughout the week.
Can I bring a guest to the club?
Yes. Guests are welcome when accompanied by a Member (or pre-registered), and standard guest fees/policies apply for golf and fitness. Please check in at reception or the appropriate shop on arrival.
What is the best way to reserve a tee time?
The best way to reserve your tee time is by contacting our Reservations Team at 330.644.8441. Standard advance-booking and cancellation windows apply.
How do I book a Stay & Play package at Firestone?
Stay & Play packages can be booked directly through our reservations team by phone or online. Our team will help customize your experience—selecting the ideal package, room type, and tee times across all three courses.
Can non-members book accommodations at Firestone Country Club?
Yes. Non-members are welcome to book Stay & Play packages, which include access to our championship courses, dining venues, and overnight accommodations in our on-course Villas or Premium Club Rooms.
