One of Gainey Ranch's three championship nine-hole courses, The Dunes winds through the natural beauty of Scottsdale's Sonoran Desert, where accuracy off the tee and a confident touch on the greens are rewarded.

Par 4 · 388

Pro’s Tip:

The Dunes Course begins with a dogleg right par 4. Long hitters can try to cut the corner over the bunkers, but the smart play is down the left side. The green slopes severly back to front, stay beneath the hole for an easier birdie try.

2nd Hole

Pro’s Tip:

This short par 4 requires a decision on the tee shot. The aggresive play is to drive over the creek to the front of the green, a more conservative play is to lay up to the right of the fairway bunker for a short iron into the green.

3rd Hole

Pro’s Tip:

A hard dogleg left, this hole sets up best with a right to left tee shot. Any hole location on the back tier of the green makes for a tricky approach and a difficult par.

Pro’s Tip:

This par 3 plays slightly downhill and is protected by a large bunker in front of the green.

Pro’s Tip:

Although this par 4 bends slightly right overall, the tee shot favors a right to left shape to avoid the trees hanging over the left side of the fairway. A precise approach is required to get it close on the multi-sectioned green.

Pro’s Tip:

This short par 5 has a very deep green, protected by a large tree short and right. Hole locations on the back tier require a deft touch to set up a birdie chance.

Pro’s Tip:

Conservative tee shots will favor the right half of the fairway, but aggresive players can shorten the hole by hitting over the corner of the dogleg left. Long hitters can get close to the green but an errant shot will result in a bogey or worse.

A mid to long iron is required into this par 3, any shot over the mounds behind the green will be punished severely.

Pro’s Tip:

The Dunes Course concludes on a long par 5 back to the Clubhouse. Players must avoid the arroyo on the right with their tee shots, and negotiate it again if they lay up short of the green. The large bunker in front of the green is a popular miss, a good approach is required to find the proper section of this multi-tiered green.
