Business Workshop - Leadership Restraint! The Power of Holding Back Leadership and restraint often go hand in hand, so it's important to learn when to push, drive, persevere, and muster. Let's explore what happens when great leaders "restrain to succeed". Good leaders are responsible, but also have the courage to give the responsibility away. This can apply to conversations, tasks, goals, and much more in the workplace. Join us for a luncheon while you learn about how to stay focused, give quality of voice, and lead in situations where it's time to take a step back and delegate. Be the kind of person who makes people hungry to listen when you open your mouth. This small & personable workshop has 20 seats available. It is part of a six-session series where each session can be stand alone. It's complimentary to attend and a la carte is available. Join Book Club, Read to Lead! Each month a book on leadership, career or other professional development topic will be read and discussed. This month we are reading: "Made to Stick" by Dan Heath & his brother Chip “To make our communications more effective, we need to shift our thinking from "What information do I need to convey?" to "What questions do I want my audience to ask?” - Chip Heath In Made to Stick, Chip and Dan Heath reveal the anatomy of ideas that stick and explain ways to make ideas stickier, such as applying the human scale principle, using the Velcro Theory of Memory, and creating curiosity gaps. Along the way, we discover that sticky messages of all kinds—from the infamous “kidney theft ring” hoax to a coach’s lessons on sportsmanship to a vision for a new product at Sony—draw their power from the same six traits.
