A group of eight men and 13 women form the College Graduate Club to bring together scholars and discuss important topics of the day.

The College Graduate Club formally incorporates as The University Club, a private corporation dedicated to promoting literature, art, and culture among its members.

The Club moves from a rented mansion to its own clubhouse, establishing a permanent home for members.

The original building is replaced with a modern facility, evolving from its academic roots into a thriving business and social hub that celebrates culture, community, and connection.

The Club relocates to Symphony Towers and joins the Invited network (formerly ClubCorp), expanding member benefits and access to an international network of private clubs.

The Club launches its in-house 501(c)(3), the Lamp of Learning Scholarship Program, dedicated to recognizing and supporting high-achieving students from low-income families throughout San Diego County.

The University Club celebrates its centennial and completes a multi-million-dollar renovation to welcome the next generation of members. That year, the Young Executive Society is founded, quickly becoming a force in the San Diego community and attracting attention from organizations eager to engage emerging leaders.

A top-to-bottom renovation redefines the Club for today’s leaders and innovators. With refreshed dining, vibrant social spaces, and inspiring work areas, the reimagined Club now features a modern coastal vibe, expanded bar, and thoughtful design that invites connection, creativity, and memorable experiences.
