Westlake Golf Course

Private Golf Near Downtown Austin

Designer: Dave Bennett and consultant Terry Dill, 1993 by Golf Scapes, Inc. 2023 redesign by the Lanny Wadkins design firm.

Nestled just 20 minutes from downtown Austin, the Westlake Course offers a picturesque, approachable 18 holes of golf for all skill levels. Bunker complexes and water hazards guard landing areas and greens, requiring creative shotmaking and course management. Drivable par 4s and 5s offer plenty of risk/reward opportunities.

Westlake’s golf course re-opened in November of 2023 following a redesign by the Lanny Wadkins design firm. The updated course now incorporates the landscape, making use of elevation changes, natural water features, live oaks, and native vegetation. It also boasts new green complexes, a short game area and updated driving range.

The third shot over water plays slightly uphill and into the breeze. The green is tiered so pay attention to the hole location when making your club selection.

Yardage by Tee:

Gold Tee 145

Silver Tee 128

Black Tee 523

Gold Tee 486

Silver Tee 365

Violet Tee 354

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

This dogleg-left par 5 is a 3-shotter for most but a 2-shotter for some. Bite off as much as you want off the tee. Favor the righthand side on the way into the green and you will have a chance for par or better.

Par: 4

Men's 12 Women's 12

Yardage by Tee:

Black Tee 357

Gold Tee 347

Silver Tee 313

Violet Tee 254

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

This par 4 requires a drive to 125 yards from the green and no more: there is a creek down there! The second shot is downwind but you cannot be long. Center of the green is prudent.

# 13 /

Par: 4

Handicaps:
Men's 6 Women's 4

Yardage by Tee:

Black Tee 394

Gold Tee 379

Silver Tee 331

Violet Tee 312

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

Whatever club you can hit best to the middle of the fairway, hit that club. The approach shot is slightly uphill to an undulated green. Bogey is OK and par is great here.

# 14 /

Par: 4

Handicaps:
Men's 4 Women's 6

Yardage by Tee:

Black Tee 363

Gold Tee 334

Silver Tee 310

Violet Tee 245

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

A really tight hole. Squeeze a long iron or hybrid up the right side to set up a 125-yard approach. The green is fairly flat so be patient and you’ll have a chance at par or better.

# 15 /

Par: 4

Handicaps:
Men's 10 Women's 10

Yardage by Tee:

Black Tee 336

Gold Tee 320

Silver Tee 255

Violet Tee 235

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

Bombs away. This straight par 4 is wide open the farther you go down the fairway. Pick the right club to approach because the green is tiered, and you want to be on the proper level. Another chance at a low number.

# 16 /

Par: 5

Handicaps:
Men's 8 Women's 8

Yardage by Tee:

Black Tee 545

Gold Tee 515

Silver Tee 437

Violet Tee 429

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

The last par 5. Keep your drive up the left side. If you're felling saucy, hit a fairway metal past the tree in the fairway. A conservative 2nd will be right of the tree. The tricky approach should favor the left side of the green. Par is a good score here.

# 17 /

Par: 4

Handicaps:
Men's 2 Women's 2

Yardage by Tee:

Black Tee 399

Gold Tee 365

Silver Tee 317

Violet Tee 305

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

This par 5 requires a drive up the center or left side for the best approach to the green. The green is undulated so try to land the approach shot to set up an uphill putt.

# 18 /

Par: 3

Handicaps:
Men's 16 Women's 16

Yardage by Tee:

Black Tee 183

Gold Tee 172

Silver Tee 135

Violet Tee 123

Slope:

Lone Star - Black | Texan - Gold | Jakes - Silver | Hill Country - Violet

Pro Tips

You made it, but this par 3 will keep your attention just a bit longer. Shots carry to a large green. The wind swirls around the Clubhouse in the foreground so pay attention to club selection. Short of the green is not the way to end the day. Hit the green and you have a chance for par or better.
